In a blatant violation of human rights, Moroccan security forces abducted Sahrawi activist Brika Bahi yesterday while he was at the model market in the occupied city of Laayoune.

According to eyewitnesses, a civilian Dacia car carrying five plainclothes agents surrounded the activist before forcibly seizing him, binding his hands, and blindfolding him. He was then taken nine kilometers outside the city, where he was brutally beaten, forcibly stripped of his clothes, and tortured into recording coerced video statements in humiliating positions.
The Moroccan authorities threatened him with physical liquidation if he continued his activism before abandoning him naked in the wilderness after destroying his phone and confiscating his SIM card.
This incident is part of an ongoing systematic crackdown on Sahrawi activists, aimed at silencing voices demanding self-determination, all while the international community remains disturbingly silent. What happened to Brika Bahi is not an isolated case but rather a deliberate policy of intimidation meant to instill fear among Sahrawi activists and suppress human rights movements in the occupied territories.
Human rights activists and international organizations are calling for an urgent investigation into this crime, holding those responsible accountable, and putting an end to the repressive practices that violate fundamental human rights in Western Sahara.
