Today, in the city of Dakhla, a group of young men and women gathered in front of the Social Housing Office belonging to the Dakhla Regional Council, demanding their social and economic rights.
Although the protest was peaceful, it reflects the harsh reality faced by Sahrawis in the occupied territories, where a systematic policy of exclusion and starvation is applied to break their will and prevent them from demanding their legitimate rights.

Vast Wealth, Yet an Impoverished People

Western Sahara is rich in natural resources — phosphates, marine wealth, solar and wind energy — yet most Sahrawis live under the weight of unemployment and poverty.
The resources are looted, and the revenues are directed to benefit certain groups tied to Moroccan authorities, while the indigenous people remain marginalized and excluded from development.

Starvation as a Weapon to Silence National Consciousness

Starvation and marginalization have become tools of political pressure.
Anyone who refuses to comply or who demands the right to self-determination is deprived of work and housing, and denied the means to live with dignity.
In this way, the occupation seeks to weaken the Sahrawis and push them toward migration or the forced sale of their property due to poverty and despair.

The Sahrawi Woman… A Symbol of Resilience and Ongoing Struggle

The Sahrawi woman — known for her historic role in resistance and social organization — has not been spared from marginalization.
Despite all difficulties, she continues to stand in the front lines, demanding her rights and those of her family to live with dignity in her own homeland.

A Cry from Dakhla to the World

Today’s protest is not an isolated event — it is a cry expressing a worsening reality year after year.
It sends a message to the international conscience that what is happening in Sahrawi cities is a systematic policy to silence the national Sahrawi voice through economic and social oppression.

Depriving the Sahrawis of their wealth and their most basic living rights will not extinguish their spirit of resistance — it will only strengthen their determination to continue the struggle for dignity, freedom, and self-determination.
For those who have nothing left but their voice… will keep raising it against injustice, no matter how severe the repression becomes.
