Laayoune Occupied – Western Sahara | September 30, 2025

Amid the alarming escalation of repression by Moroccan occupation authorities against Sahrawi civilians and students, sahararepublic.com issues a direct and urgent call to international organizations, the United Nations, and the Human Rights Council to launch an independent and immediate investigation into the ongoing violations in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

Arbitrary Arrests and Ongoing Repression

The recent arrest of Sahrawi students in Agadir represents the latest chapter in a systematic campaign of targeting. Students Salah Eddine Sabbaar and Ibrahim Bbeit have been remanded in custody and held at the notorious “Ait Melloul” prison, known for abuse and ill-treatment, while their peers Elhafedh Berman and Noureddine Enflous were released on bail.
These detentions followed three days of arbitrary imprisonment, solely for their peaceful activism at Ibn Zohr University – Martyr Abdelrahim Badri Campus – and for peacefully raising slogans demanding the Sahrawi people’s right to freedom and self-determination.

Morocco Crossed All Red Lines

The ongoing situation in Western Sahara demonstrates that Moroccan authorities have crossed all red lines, employing political imprisonment, torture, and medical neglect as tools to silence any voice calling for freedom or exposing severe human rights violations.

Appeal to the International Community

From this platform, sahararepublic.com calls on:
• The United Nations to fulfill its legal and historical responsibilities toward the Sahrawi people.
• The Human Rights Council to send field missions to investigate conditions on the ground in Western Sahara.
• International organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to document these crimes and demand Morocco’s compliance with international law.
• The African Union and the European Union to apply real political and diplomatic pressure to halt these violations and ensure the protection of Sahrawi students and activists.

The Website’s Statement

sahararepublic.com emphasizes that these abuses will not be forgotten. Sahrawi voices will continue to bring the truth to the world until the Sahrawi people achieve their legitimate right to self-determination and live with dignity, free from repression and occupation.
